The GOP engages in a level of double speak that absolutely appalls me. Their rhetoric through the whole Roberts situation was to, "guarantee each nominee an up or down vote." My how things change when the administration chooses to select someone that isn't a staunch, right-wing ideologue. Please pass the tact.....

Actually it's in her best interest for both parties.. she wasn't well received by Republicans or Democrats. She has no record plus she's too conservative esp. with her stance on pro-life.. she is suppose to be replacing a "swing vote" judge who who upheld pro-choice in Roe V. Wade.

to other prospective nominees. Conservatives view this as their chance to pack the court for the next 20 years. She wasnt the best choice, but she's no roberts when it comes to the belief in conservative ideology. Liberals, in fact, didn't oppose this nomination with as much vigor as they might have, and I think that a lack of reaction by democrats is an indication that she isn't as conservative as right-wing ideologues want in a new supreme. Indeed she has few qualifications and a short resume, but I fear that the alternative could be much worse. I understand that she's not the progressive nominee liberals would want, but she's the most moderate choice that this president would consider.

That's a fair point. The Dems probably felt that much opposition wasnt necessary. It does annoy me that conservatives nearly enact the nuclear option in eliminating the filabuster in order to get roberts in. They wanted an up or down vote for every nominee, but now it doesnt seem necessary. They change their policies for the sake of convenience.
